Web3 loyalty programs
Is it a thing?
GM, GM mates!
Hope you're doing well and enjoying the sun (at least here in the middle of Europe).☀️😎
You probably already heard it:
Another big company launched their loyalty program backed by blockchain: Lufthansa
In short: “Lufthansa Group Airlines passengers can scan their boarding pass in the app and exchange it for NFT trading cards. At the heart of Uptrip is the integration of Web3 technologies into the loyalty program, while gamification and entertainment elements make collecting cards a thrilling experience. Customers can store the NFTs in their very own crypto wallets. To provide the NFTs, Uptrip will utilize the Polygon proof-of-stake blockchain protocol.” Read the full press release here: CLICK.
I did a LinkedIn post the other day, that states, that I don’t think loyalty programs will not be the killer use case for Web3. For me it is a little overhyped.
At first I thought, I will write a newsletter about this topic, but instead, we had a good conversation about the pros and cons in the comments. Really great insights, and arguments, why Web3 is good for loyalty programs.
It pulled me a little to the other side, but honestly, I don’t find loyalty programs that much exciting. But maybe it’s just me… 🤷🏻♂️
And instead of rewriting all the arguments here, I want you to invite to step into the discussion over on LinkedIn. Here is the post:
I really would love to get your hot takes on this topic.
Is it the next big Web3 thing? Is it just a temporary hype? Will it be really possible, to interchange seemingly my AmEx Points to Miles & More and then to whatever?
What do you think?
Let’s discuss!
See you next week,
Florian ✌️
